U.S. Warns Tanzania Over Impact of Serengeti Road

The ATTA has been following the issue of a proposed highway in the Serengeti region of Tanzania and has taken the stance that the highway would have negative and potentially devastating effects on both the environment and the wildlife of the area, and consequently for the local tourism community as well.

A recent Yahoo! News article reports that the U.S. government is officially taking a similar stance:

The Obama administration says it has expressed concerns to Tanzania’s government about the impact of its plan to build a road through the Serengeti that environmentalists say could affect the famed wildebeest migration and threaten endangered species.
