Macs Adventure specialises in walking holidays, cycling holidays and tailor made adventures in the UK, Europe and around the world.
The company was founded in the living room of Chief Adventure Officer Neil Lapping’s flat on Dumbarton Road, Glasgow in August of 2003, selling walking tours in Scotland. Since then Macs Adventure has expanded to offer a diverse range of over 400 walking & cycling tours throughout the UK, Europe, and worldwide, plus treks in Nepal and Mount Kilimanjaro. And of course we no longer operate from a living room! Neil along with Macs Adventure’s 10 Destination and Adventure specialists and 5 strong support team are based at Macs HQ, Speirs Wharf, Glasgow. The team of passionate walkers, cyclists and travellers provide a friendly service tailor made to the needs of individual travellers.
The tour range includes leisure tours organised by walking or cycling grade to allow travellers to select the perfect itinerary. The majority of tours are on a self-guided basis including baggage transfer, although recent additions to the range include guided walks, for example the latest Icelandic group walking tours.
Scotland’s West Highland Way remains the highest selling self-guided walking adventure, but our range of pilgrimage tours is competing for popularity, which is why we have recently expanded the pilgrimage range to offer walks on the Camino Portugues, the Le Puy Way, and the Via Francigena to Rome to complement our every popular Camino Frances packages.
Why Macs? Well, we strive to offer:
- interesting routes and exciting itineraries
- fascinating destinations with breathtaking scenery
- a choice of good quality accommodation of different standards
- comprehensive holiday information packs
- seamless organisation, and of course emergency support.
We still privately owned and managed by founder and Chief Adventure Officer Neil. We may be biased but do believe that there is something to be said for choosing an owner managed company where the passion for delighting customers still burns as fiercely as ever.
Our market is mostly UK and North American travellers, with a growing clientele in Europe, Australasia, and South Africa. Our main product range focus is soft adventure tours for the leisure traveller, with a select offering of more challenging grade tours on well-known trails and treks. The clear grading structure to the range means that the right level of adventure is easily searched by clients, and destination and adventure specialists are always on hand with advice on selecting the right tour for each ability.
With a growing worldwide product range, we are open to working with partners across the globe, and can offer inbound tour packages to suit.
