Alabama-Based Company Named To List Of Top Tour Operators & Safari Outfitters Every Year Since 2004

HELENA, Ala. – The readers of Travel + Leisure chose nature travel experts International Expeditions as one of the “Top 10 Tour Operators & Safari Outfitters” in the magazine’s 2010 World’s Best Awards survey. This is the seventh consecutive year IE has been named to the prestigious “World’s Best” list.

“Anytime our company and staff are recognized for the passion and dedication we put into travel, it’s an honor,” said Maggie Hart, International Expeditions President. “What makes the ‘World’s Best’ list so special is that it is voted on by our guests – the people who know us the best. And making it to that list seven consecutive years reinforces to all of us at IE the importance of the personal service and engaging, educational adventures we offer.”

Out of a total of 100 points, International Expeditions received an outstanding overall score of 90.39.

To qualify for the World’s Best Awards, readers of Travel + Leisure judged tour operators on six criteria: staff/guides, itineraries/destinations, activities, accommodations, food and value. Out of a total of 100 points, International Expeditions received an outstanding overall score of 90.39.

This distinction complements International Expeditions’ ever-increasing list of accolades. For the past two years, the company has been named one of “The Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth” by National Geographic Adventure magazine.

This honor comes as IE celebrates their 30th year offering innovative and enriching travel programs to the world’s greatest natural and cultural locales. From compelling small-ship cruises in the Amazon and Galapagos, to intimate escorted tours in Patagonia, Panama, Costa Rica, Machu Picchu, India, Egypt and Jordan, to fascinating safaris in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, IE is renowned for its comprehensive itineraries featuring off-the-beaten-track activities and passionate world-class naturalist and historian guides who enhance each experience with their knowledge of the destinations visited.

New for 2011, International Expeditions is launching an in-depth look at the premier wildlife areas of Borneo. This 20-day expedition allows a firsthand look at the island’s orangutans, enormous caves and vibrant culture.

With three decades specializing in engaging nature travel, International Expeditions’ hallmark is small-group journeys to Earth’s most exhilarating destinations. A pioneer of environmentally responsible travel, IE is committed to preserving natural habitats and improving the welfare of the people and communities it visits. This mission is reflected in the 11 conservation, education and community-service projects IE supports in Peru, Laos, East Africa, India and the Galapagos Islands.
