Adventure Travel Trade Association Unveils Regionalization Strategy, Promotes Internal Veterans to New Posts

The ATTA team at the 2011 Summit in Chiapas. Seattle, WA.— Responding to its diverse and growing base of nearly 800 businesses and tourism organization members representing 82 countries – up from approximately 100 members and a dozen countries in 2005, the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) today unveiled the first-phase of a multi-year regionalization strategy designed to better address the destination-specific needs, challenges and opportunities of leaders pursuing responsible adventure tourism development worldwide. For its initial phase, the ATTA is intensifying attention on Europe, Latin America, Australia/New Zealand and North America in 2012, which will be followed in a later stage by increased specialization in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and other adventure-rich destinations. Lucerne, Switzerland Selected to Host the 2012 Adventure Travel World Summit

(SAN FRANCISCO/TORONTO) – SEPTEMBER 27, 2011 – Lucerne, the famous resort town at the shores of Lake Lucerne in the heart of Switzerland, right at foot of Mount Pilatus and the Alps, has won the bid to serve as Destination Host to the Adventure Travel Trade Association’s (ATTA) ninth annual Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS). Expected to draw 600 adventure tourism professionals from more than 50 nations, the ATWS will be held October 8-11, 2012 at the KKL Luzern (Culture and Congress Centre), built by renowned architect Jean Nouvel. Where Luxury, Conservation and Adventure Intersect: Q&A with Neil Rogers of Francis Ford Coppola Resorts

Neil has been working with experiential travel and sustainable tourism for the last 25-years. He fell in love with Latin America on a post-University 18-month overland bus trip from Mexico City to Tierra del Fuego and back to Caracas. Leading U.S.-based Tourism Organizations Urge Texas to Change Mexico Travel Warning to an Advisory

Productive dialogue between government and industry for travel alerts Austin, Texas –Spearheaded by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA), the National Tour Association (NTA), and the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) delivered a joint request to the Texas Department of Public Safety to contextualize Texas’ travel warnings to Mexico and ultimately to have these warnings downgraded to advisories.
