Adventure Travel Trade Association Launches “Changing the World” Video Contest

Winning Video to Premier at the ATTA’s October 2011 World Summit

Seattle, WA.—The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) today announced its first ever video-contest, exclusively for the more than 600 Adventure Travel World Summit delegates expected for the October 17-21, 2011 Summit in Chiapas, Mexico, a sold-out executive conference themed, “Prosper with Purpose”.

The winner of the 60 second video – selected through private voting by Summit Delegates – who best conveys how his/her business is changing the world for good through adventure travel experiences will be announced and earn a seat next to Bill Richardson at the event’s closing dinner after his keynote address on Oct. 21st, in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Richardson, a former U.S. Congressman, Secretary of Energy, Ambassador to the United Nations, Governor of New Mexico and U.S. Presidential candidate will speak (in English and Spanish) on peacekeeping through tourism. In addition to dinner with Richardson, the winner will receive a public relations promotion effort on their behalf by ATTA’s PR specialists, including a press release sent to a database of thousands of worldwide travel media as well as a PRWeb newswire service for generating instant online content.

The winning video and top three finalists will be shown that evening. Voting will take place on the ATTA’s 2011 Summit Connections community site – for Summit Delegates as well as public voting opportunities on YouTube and Vimeo. The winner will be chosen based on the number of votes received by 2011 Summit Delegates on the Summit Connections site, and a second prize will be awarded to the video that receives the most “Likes” – from public voting – on both YouTube and Vimeo. The top ten winners will be posted on ATTA’s www.adventuretravel.biz (trade Web site), www.adventuretravelnews.com (the industry’s news source) and www.adventure.travel (consumer portal to adventure).

Guidelines include a 30-60 second length video in high-resolution digital quality that addresses the delegate’s business is an adventure travel leader. Deadline for submitting videos to the contest is September 20, 2011. Public voting will start immediately upon posting of the video to YouTube or Vimeo. Private voting, by Summit Delegates, will open on September 27th and end on October 11th.

The submission process follows:

  1. Summit Delegate creates video and posts it to YouTube or Vimeo under their own brand/channel/account.
  2. Delegate signs into Summit Connections (http://summitconnections.adventuretravel.biz) – ensures that submitter is a registered ATWS delegate.
  3. Accesses Video Contest page and completes Video Contest Application including contact information and link to video on YouTube or Vimeo.
  4. On September 27th, the ATTA will publish a list of links for viewing the videos along with voting instructions for Summit Delegates on the Summit Connections site.
