Adventure doesn’t have to include hanging off the side of a mountain, but that’s definitely on the menu. At time of writing, 26% of worldwide travel itineraries contain an adventure component. According to the Adventure Travel Trade Association, the segment experienced a 17% increase between 2009 and 2010, a trend that would have adventure accounting for 50% of all travel by 2050.
