XShot Sponsors WanderTours for Snowman Trek in Bhutan

10 March 2014

Seattle, WA In Fall 2014, WanderTours will offer one of the most unique tours in the world – to Bhutan where participants will take on the Snowman Trek. As part of the WanderTours Giving Program, a donation will be made on behalf of the group to RENEW, a Bhutan-based organization that seeks to empower women and girls in Bhutan, especially those affected by domestic violence. To help support this organization and the expedition, XShot Inc. has come on board as a sponsor, creating more excitement and opportunity for this already anticipated tour.

The Snowman Trek is one of the most difficult treks in the world, but also one of the most rewarding with spectacular views of Mt. Jomolhari, Jitchu Drake, Tsheri Kang and Tiger Mountain. The 32-day journey starts with a couple of days in Paro, Bhutan, so the tour participants can acclimate to the elevation, but also enjoy the museums, monasteries and local shops. The trek combines the Jhomolhari and Laya treks, passes through the Lunana region and ends in Bumthang. Highlights of the journey include a visit to Tiger’s Nest, Bhutan’s most iconic monastery.

This adventure will be led by Beth Whitman, CEO of WanderTours. From September 15 until October 16, 2014, the tour group will venture from Bangkok, Thailand, to Paro, Bhutan, and then up into the Himalayas where they will journey about 220 miles and to altitudes as high as 18,480 feet.

XShot is the first sponsor announced for the tour. They are the leading innovator in the camera accessory market and produce the popular telescopic camera extenders that attach to smartphones and any compact digital camera or hand-held video camera so that the photographer can be a part of the picture or video. XShot just released the XShot Pro, a heavy-duty telescopic monopod made for action videos and outdoors activities, with a GoPro camera mount and a universal camera mount.

XShot camera accessories are precision-engineered devices that are durable and compact—ideal for rugged journeys such as the Snowman Trek. For more information about XShot, please visit their website.

"We're very proud to be a sponsor of WanderTours' Snowman Trek in Bhutan,” said Michael Shepherd. “Not only will this be an epic adventure for those participating, but we're thrilled by the opportunity of helping support RENEW. We are looking forward to discovering all the XShot pictures from Beth’s team along the road.”

This tour is co-ed and for experienced and highly fit trekkers. Only a limited number of serious trekkers do the Snowman Trek. In fact, more people complete the trek to Mt. Everest than complete the Snowman Trek each year. WanderTours will take up to 12 people. The cost is $8,945 per person plus the cost of flights.
