Operations are based on the belief that: 1) women need opportunities to just be themselves, together; 2) the wilderness helps women connect with elements of their psyche that may be lost in the daily hustle and bustle; 3) pairing women and wilderness encourages women beyond their comfort zones, leading to increased confidence; and 4) that these ingredients can be transformational. Founded in 1991, The company purpose states the objective of its tours is not cultural immersion (which often organically occurs), but rather baptism by true wilderness experience.
Typical clients are often novices when it comes to wilderness travel. They may be women who haven’t actively pursued a physical adventure for years or who may be looking for a renaissance. Perhaps they haven’t ridden a horse, paddled a kayak or summited a mountain peak for 20 years or more. No problem! Wild Women Expeditions is beginner friendly and accessible to all, regardless of past experience. The average age of a client is between 40 and 60. The company offers the world’s most extensive roster of women-only horseback riding trips. In addition, on various programs women canoe, cycle, kayak, raft, sail, stand up paddleboard, surf and engage in wellness and yoga.
