If the Christmas 'holidays' have left you longing for a truly relaxing break to look forward to, then Hostelling Scotland's first dedicated Tai Chi holiday could be the answer.

SYHA Hostelling Scotland has added Torridon Tai Chi to its range of hostel based activity breaks, promising a holiday which will teach guests the true art of relaxation.

Torridon Tai Chi will offer five days of learning the ancient Chinese practise, with instruction from leading Highland expert Douglas Hardie.

Hardie will teach guests the graceful movements of Tai Chi, which help to combat stress, tension and poor health.

Situated in the hauntingly beautiful surroundings of Torridon in the Scottish Highlands, the holiday is located worlds away from the stresses of everyday life.

The mountains and scenery around Lake Torridon is said to be the inspiration for Tolkein's magical 'Middle Earth' – wild, remote, rugged – with a true sense of getting away from it all.

With the chance to make friends and enjoy the surroundings after classes, the break is designed to create the feeling of a retreat, so that guests return relaxed, inspired and rejuvenated.

Donna Thompson, Sales & Business Development Manager for SYHA Hostelling Scotland said:

“At this time of year many have the familiar feeling of returning from holiday more exhausted than refreshed, and this can often be the case after a break. How many times have you heard a colleague back from holiday complain that they need another holiday? Many of us are trying to live healthier lives these days, and learning to relax is as important for a balanced lifestyle as sensible diet and exercise. Tai Chi is a centuries old practise which has stood the test of time, offering relaxation and, it's said, a longer, healthier lifespan. Torridon Tai Chi has been created with absolute relaxation in mind. With expert instruction in the relaxing techniques of Tai Chi, the wild beauty of the Highland surroundings and the easy going hostel environment, guests are destined to return to normal life invigorated.”

Torridon Tai Chi includes an introductory evening and four morning classes, with afternoons free to explore the surroundings.

The holiday includes five nights accommodation at Torridon Hostel, continental breakfast and packed lunch daily.

The holiday dates are Sunday October 9th to Friday October 14th. All ages and physical abilities are welcomed.
