Secret Paradise Maldives Makes the World Responsible Tourism Awards 2015 Longlist

64351_10152413116543240_3816171909932702390_nWe are delighted to share that Secret Paradise PVT LTD Maldives has been longlisted in the ‘Best for engaging people & culture’ category, awarded to a tourism business, organisation or initiative that puts the celebration of local people and their cultures at the heart of memorable tourism experiences.

Founded and organised by responsibletravel.com and announced on World Responsible Tourism Day at WTM London, the Awards were founded to find and celebrate the most exciting and enduring examples of responsible tourism from around the world. Their purpose is to recognise, reward, inspire and to challenge others to do more, and to use the Awards to surprise and inspire tourists and the tourism industry with wonderful travel experiences that create better places to live in and to visit.

Over 200 tourism organisations, initiatives, businesses and short films have been selected for the next stage of the awards across 12 categories. The 206 tourism organisations and initiatives come from a record 69 countries worldwide and it is the first year that the World Responsible Tourism Awards Longlist encompasses every continent on the planet.

This exciting news comes just days after learning that Secret Paradise Maldives had received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. Now in its fifth year, the award celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve great reviews on TripAdvisor. Certificate of Excellence winners include accommodations, eateries and attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a superior customer experience. 

10857846_885567654827529_6924465308749039658_nWhen selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honorees that takes into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews and opinions submitted by travelers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period as well as business’s tenure and ranking on the Popularity Index on the site.  To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.
