Boulder, COLO. – SCARPA North America this week named its South-Central sales agency, The Horton Company, based near Austin, Texas, its ‘Rep of the Year’ for 2011.
The Horton Company, comprised of principals Jerry and Lois Horton, won because of its work growing its territory more than 60 percent last year, as well as strong pre-season sales in 2012, after joining SCARPA North America at the start 2011, said Mark Mathews, SCARPA North America Director of Sales.
SCARPA’s rep award is based on a number of criteria, including sales performance current year versus previous year, pre-season booking performance, agency structure and engagement with the in-house team at SCARPA.
“Since coming on board in late 2010, Jerry and Lois have worked tirelessly to grow the SCARPA business in the South Central territory, and achieved some great results,” Mathews said. “Their experience in both outdoor retail and sales is a great asset to both SCARPA and the retailers they service.”
Jerry and Lois Horton are longtime outdoor industry veterans. They have worked as sales representatives in the South-Central territory for 20 years. Prior to that Jerry spent 15 years in outdoor specialty retail and five years in management, also in the outdoor industry. The Horton Company also represents Outdoor Research, Carve Designs, GSI, McNett, Nite-Ize, Haiku and Bridgedale.
