The International Day for Biodiversity on 22 May reminds us of the critical importance of preserving our planet's diverse ecosystems and species. This year's theme, Be Part of the Plan, underscores the urgent call to action for all key players to work together to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity by supporting the implementation of the Biodiversity Plan (also called the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework).

As an ATTA partner, ANIMONDIAL recognises the integral role that travel businesses play in both contributing to and mitigating impacts on biodiversity and protecting animals and nature in tourism.

As advocates for Nature Positive Tourism, we are committed to being #PartofthePlan #ForNature and offer our Protecting Animals and Nature in Adventure Travel online training course at discount to all ATTA members. This course provides a deep-dive into animal- and nature-based tourism, guidance on how to navigate its complexity, and the tools required to mitigate risk, safeguard clients, protect local livelihoods, and ensure best practice.

Through this course, expect to access tools to help you distinguish appropriate animal-based products from inappropriate activity, guidance on how to create your animal protection commitment and engage stakeholders, and impartial advice on how to overcome industry challenges. Everything you need to know to become a leader in animal and nature protection in tourism!

Aside from taking a look at our course, here are some quick and easy steps that you can take to join us today:

  • Share your commitment! Help us amplify the message that Travel & Tourism can be a force for good, and share your own commitment to nature, using the Trello board of FREE Nature Positive Tourism assets. As we celebrate the International Day for Biodiversity, let us reaffirm our commitment in Travel & Tourism to being stewards of the planet and actively participating in efforts to protect and preserve biodiversity.

Just as we rallied to combat a global pandemic, we must now rally to save our planet. Together, we can do this. Thank you for being #PartofthePlan #ForNature!
