Grand Re-Opening of the Three Chimneys Inn with total renovations and new Executive Chef, Durham. Built in 1649, announced a grand reopening this April with 23 fully renovated luxury guestrooms and farm-to-table kitchen. The inn will introduce their new Executive Chef, Jonathan Cox. Chef Cox is a Culinary Institute of America graduation whose 18 year career includes preparing a James Beard dinner and serving as the chef at luxury inns throughout New England. Mount Washington Cog Railway opens FREE Base Station experience: the NEW Cog Railway Museum and Peppersass Pond live fish, Bretton Woods. The world’s first mountain-climbing railway opens a brand new FREE museum at their base station. Exhibits include their Emmy-award winning documentary, an interactive cog wheel and rack, and a bio-diesel train simulator. The railway also plans to stock the Peppersass Pond with trout for educational purposes where guests are welcome to feed them and watch them jump. Hikers who want to summit this legendary and challenging mountain AND want to experience this famous train can now do both in a single day. Umbagog Wildlife Tour now offered by ELC Outdoors, Errol. The Famous Winnipesaukee Pier sold for $2 million, Laconia Weirs Beach. New owners East Coast Flight Craft purchased the Pier and announced immediate plans to add parking and picnic areas. Space will be leased to new vendors including a smoke house serving BBQ as well as other eateries. Their 5 year plans include reconfiguring the pier to a more upscale recreational and dining destination and plans to invest up to $4 million. Schilling Beer Co Announces Plans for Expansion, Littleton. Plans to expand their historic grist mill building to dramatically increase their brewing space, add a space dedicated to tastings, and a retail area. Smuttynose Brewing Company recognized among the Best Breweries in the World for the 11th year, Northhampton. This local craft brew, founded in 1994, has once again been recognized on RateBeer’s list of 100 Best Breweries in the World. Visitors can sip their creations while being surrounded by 270 barrel fermenting tanks, after playing a round of disc golf or eating at one of their two restaurants. This classic exhibition will demonstrate why the fine craftsmanship of Portsmouth artisans is universally respected and sought after. “Seacoast Sculpture, from Material to Masterwork,” (July 7-October 1) will focus on works by three renowned locals in three different media–ceramics by Jane Kaufmann, metal sculpture by Sumner Winebaum, and woodworks by Michael Stasiuk.
