Engaging Cultures Travel’s 'Jordan Insider' tour has been selected as one of National Geographic Travelers magazine’s 50 Tours of a Lifetime of 2014.

“We are thrilled and honored to be included for the first time on this prestigious list,” says Jon Killpack, Engaging Cultures Travel’s co-founder.  “We continue to be radically changed by interacting deeply with real people from a dramatically different culture than our own.  That is what we want others to experience when they travel with us.  Not just to tick a new country off their bucket list, but to start to see the world with new eyes. Have a paradigm shift over a cup of tea.”

New for 2014, the ten-day Jordan tour was crafted so that guests get to steep in the culture and not be rushed around from site to site.  It is a ten day tour consisting of 3 days in 3 different locations.  Each day guests will find themselves having authentic cultural experiences; spending enough time with their hosts to truly bond.

We want our clients to not see themselves as “tourists” but to feel as though they truly are guests of the remarkably hospitable people of Jordan.  On this tour, guests get to have an exclusive, insider perspective on Jordan and her people.  Learn to cook authentic Jordanian meals in local homes.  Exchange riddles with Bedouin over a steaming plate of “mansaf”.  Hike, scramble and camp in Wadi Rum with trained local Bedouin.  Get to know these amazing people and experience the major sites of Jordan without being rushed.

“The selection process was competitive and our editorial team worked long and hard to find 2014’s most authentic, most innovative, most immersive, best-guided, and most sustainable tours.  This year marks the 30th anniversary of National Geographic Traveler, which has always looked at the world through the lens of culture, nature, and history.  The tours we selected go beyond destination to add meaning and context,” said Norie Quintos, executive editor of National Geographic Traveler magazine.  “They open the mind to new possibilities, new connections, new ways of thinking—all critically important given the world’s complex issues.”

Engaging Cultures’ Jordan Insider tour will be featured in the May 2014 issue of National Geographic Traveler magazine.
