Infinite Kayak Adventures is a boutique company based in the United States and Tanzania that combines a custom wildlife safari with a chance to kayak the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. We are the only safari company in Tanzania to offer kayaking – in fact, since no kayaks are produced there, my Tanzania-based partner, Britisher Steve Chumbley, molded our own state-of-the-art fiberglass boats. Steve and I were the first ever to paddle in the areas we take our clients, and seeing the two of us show up in our bright yellow boats on remote beaches has definitely been a source of great amusement to local villagers, fishermen and especially the kids. We chose to kayak in the ocean to avoid some of the issues that arise when paddling in freshwater rivers and lakes – namely, hippos and crocodiles. We also can arrange cultural opportunities and other adventure activities including diving, climbing, snorkeling, horseback riding and mountain biking.

Because Steve has been in the safari business for more than a decade and I am a seasoned African traveler, our trips hit all the traditional tourist highlights but also take you behind the scenes – for example, instead of buying trinkets at the same Masai village as everyone else, we go to a village where our friend Chief Oledorup invites you into his home to meet his wives. Because we were once clients we know the concerns and expectations of those who embark on what for many is a once in a lifetime trip. Even adventurers want to know and see that all logistics have been taken care of. As professional kayak instructors, we make sure the equipment is top of the line and in first class condition and that the people involved are experienced and know how to make a trip fun while at the same time safe and secure. Infinite kayak Adventures does all of those things and more.

Our clients stay in top-of-the-line lodges, hotels and tented camps, travel in the best all-terrain vehicles conveniently equipped with phone and camera chargers, and learn about wildlife from the most qualified and personable English speaking guides (one of ours has even been featured on TV documentary). We use first class gear from the US and Australia. We can tailor our trips to all levels of kayak experience including for those who have never paddled before or want to choose another activities instead of paddling. My wife, who is not a paddler, still loves the fact that our trips take clients not just into the bush, but also down to the shore.

And after the day’s adventure, there’s nothing like watching the glorious African sunset while sipping a Kilimanjaro beer or a glass of delicious South African wine before sitting down to a sumptuous meal combining African and American dining traditions, sure to suit any tastes. You relax under the stars while hearing the sounds of the surf, the wild or maybe even a story or two from one of the local villagers.

Let me share a testimonial from a client who recently returned from one of our trips:
We are lucky to have had many great holidays in our lives. However, we would put our trip with Infinite Kayak Adventures in a class by itself. It was a really special trip for all of us. We congratulate ourselves on our choice of tour companies!! IKA really listened to us. No detail was too small.

No words could have made us happier. As we like to say at IKA: “Memories are made of the things you do – not the things you wish you had done.”
