This is the first time Mr. Aspelund has been selected for the list, which will be published in the December 2012 edition of the high-end luxury travel magazine. The list is also available online here.
“I am pleased and honored to be included,” said Erling. “Given our focus on the high-end market in North America, this will help us connect with travelers looking for active adventures in Iceland that feature high levels of service.”
The annual list, compiled by Condé Nast Traveler’s Wendy Perrin, Director of Consumer News and Digital Community, is one of the highest and most coveted honors in the luxury travel industry. Specialists initially go through a rigorous screening process in which they are vetted from thousands of potential experts for their specialized knowledge, real connections, vast experience, and overall quality of service, down to an final list of some 150 specialists.
“The travel planners collected here represent the best blend of destination knowledge, insider connections, user-friendliness, and value for your dollar that I’ve found in more than two decades of scrutinizing the travel industry for this magazine,” said Perrin. “Of the more than 10,000 travel agents and tour operators who have tried to break onto this list since its inception 13 years ago, only a tiny fraction have made the grade—this year, 150 specialists.”
