Golden Experiences & Travel (GET) announces the completion of a new photovoltaic system at La Selva Eco-Lodge & Retreat, marking an important step within the company's long-term sustainability framework in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
The new installation includes 70 solar panels designed to significantly reduce the lodge's operational diesel consumption while supporting a more energy-efficient operation in one of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems.
According to internal projections, the initiative will reduce diesel consumption by approximately 66.7%, lowering annual usage from 10,950 to 3,650 gallons. This represents the elimination of nearly 100 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year, equivalent to planting more than 4,300 trees or removing 20 cars from the road annually.
Through this implementation, the lodge now operates primarily on solar energy and battery storage systems, with generators remaining as backup support during peak consumption hours or extreme weather conditions.
This project forms part of GET's broader sustainability stewardship strategy, focused on combining bespoke hospitality with measurable environmental responsibility across both the Galapagos Islands and the Ecuadorian Amazon.
Beyond its environmental impact, the project also contributes to reducing fuel transportation needs within the reserve, supporting more efficient river logistics and lower operational impact over time.
GET continues advancing toward its long-term objective of strengthening energy autonomy while developing hospitality experiences that support conservation, local communities, and transparent sustainability practices.
