Much more than a traditional tour operator, Global Family Travels’ mission is to “Learn, Serve and Immerse,” using travel as a means to build cultural bridges and to foster global citizens. In partnership with community-based tour operators and local non-profit organizations, Global Family Travels creates and offers service learning tours for families which include a unique mix of cultural and educational activities, homestays and participation in local service projects aimed at improving the lives of people in the communities we visit.
Global Family Travels’ enriching tours offer both the visiting families and host community participants an opportunity to make a difference together, and to learn from each other in ways that will open their hearts and minds to a greater awareness that we are all connected. Expect to expand your family circle when you embark on a Global Family Travels trip! Our 2013 tours are in China, India and Turkey.
Learn: At Global Family Travels, we believe the most powerful way to learn is through first-hand experience. We let the country and its people be your teachers. We supplement traveler’s experiences with reading lists, informal discussions, and a pre-trip orientation which includes information on the culture and history of your host country, helpful words and phrases and cultural “do’s and don’ts”.
Serve: Our trips bring families from different cultures together to learn from each other and to work side-by-side to effect positive change. As we strengthen our connection to the world around us and begin to see ourselves in others we can’t help but feel a deeper sense of responsibility for the impact of our actions. This lends itself to the goal at the heart of our company – for us all to become better global citizens. We are committed to our core values of social and environmental ethics, and it’s our belief the best way to foster these values in the next generations is to give them the gift of recognizing their place in the global community.
Immerse: As part of Global Family Travels’ home-stay program, families become immersed in the culture of the host communities we visit. On some tours, families will have the chance to experience “3 days in the life” of a host family.
Every Global Family Travels itinerary features educational sightseeing, cultural immersion, home stays with local families, meaningful service projects, and perhaps most importantly, fun activities designed to keep all ages happy and engaged.
Global Family Travels is excited to be an ATTA member and is looking to partner with community-based tour operators in countries which offer enriching cultural experiences and where local communities are looking to engage with travelers on family-friendly projects that benefit the local environment, education or basic needs of the community.
