April 12, 2007 - In recognition of Earth Day, G.A.P Adventures, a world leader in responsible tourism, is pleased to announce a voluntary worldwide clean-up on its adventure tours, and at its head office on April 20 & 21. Travellers around the world on adventures in exotic locations including Peru, South Africa, Belize and China, and head office staff in Toronto will don eco-friendly t-shirts to help clean up the local area. Employees at G.A.P Adventures travel concept stores in Vancouver and Toronto will hand out prepackaged seedlings to the public. Instructions on how to plant the seedlings will be provided.

From April 20-27, G.A.P Adventures will also offset the carbon emissions that result from all flights for passengers who purchase international airfare through us. Since January 2007, G.A.P Adventures has partnered with Sustainable Travel International (STI) and MyClimate to offer a carbon emission offset program. Travellers can determine the CO2 emitted from their flight through a custom carbon calculator and offset it with a voluntary contribution to an energy efficient community project, such as a solar energy project in Costa Rica and a wind energy plant in Madagascar.
