For the second year, Explorandes feels proud to have won the award of "2014 South America's Leading Green Tour Operator" received at the Ceremony of the World Travel Awards, held on August 9 in Quito, Ecuador . Also, during the years 2012 and 2013, Explorandes earned the award for "World's Leading Green Tour Operator", also by the World Travel Awards. Four awards in two years mean a great merit.

The recognition comes at a time when Explorandes is about to turn forty years in the market. The search for adventure began in 1975 when the first guided trekking to the Inca Trail was performed. A year later, the route to Choquequirao was opened and other treks in the Vilcabamba mountain range. Since then, the line of Explorandes operations has being based on the exploration of the different ecosystems of Peru and its cultural landscapes. This has allowed them to generate tourist traffic in areas once considered remote, such as the Cordillera Carabaya, the Manu National Park, and the Cordillera Central, among others.

The passion for exploration has always gone hand in hand with the sense of respect and conservation. Explorandes sees landscapes and ecosystems not only as resources for tourism, but also, the main resources for the future of the local communities. This has led them to work in partnership and a retributive manner, with different communities in Cusco (Piuray, Amaru), Puno (Llachón) and other tourist destinations.

The World Travel Awards were created in 1993, with the aim to recognize and reward excellence in the world travel industry. For the third year, Explorandes has been nominated and reached the highest vote, in recognition of his extensive and careful work that has been done in their tourism operations; implementing its vision for nature conservation, certifying its activities and processes, developing products with local partners, as well as preserving the traditions and cultural expressions of the local communities.

The passion for exploration and adventure strongly remain after these forty years. Thanks to this second consecutive recognition, as "South America’s Leading Green Tour Operator", the path to follow on how to manage their tourism operations has being confirmed. This is, a relentless seeking of sustainability for the future.
