We are proud to announce that for the second year in a row, Explorandes was awarded a World Travel Award in the category of World's Leading Green Tour Operator held in Moscow on the last 27th of November. This is the fifth time that the company has won this category (2012, 2013, 2018 and 2019) in the 27 editions of this reputable tourism contest.
Over the last 45 years, we have worked very hard to mitigate the impacts caused by our visitors every time that they explore our fragile ecosystems. We took into consideration that Peru has 82 out of the 117 life zones that are found in the world and a vast cultural legacy as one of the cradles of civilization. As our company grew, we felt a sense of responsibility and accountability for the growing impacts of taking more and more visitors to Protected Areas and Cultural Heritage sites. That is how our sustainable management system began taking shape over 20 years ago.
Even though this hasn´t been a great year for tourism, we feel that it is important to celebrate this award. It is always a great motivator to be recognized for our pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement efforts set forth in our sustainable management system. This recognition is important not just because it reinforces our positioning as a responsible tour operator, but more importantly because it motivates our stakeholders and competitors to improve their own sustainability standards.
