Visit Greenland est un de champions de ATTA, nous ayant rejoint il y a plus de 15 ans. Idrissia fait partie des ambassadeurs d'ATTA, elle est française et pourtant elle gère la destination Groenland, une terre isolée qui fait rêver. Nous lui donnons la parole et j'espère que son témoignage vous inspirera non seulement à visiter ce magnifique pays mais aussi autour d’ une carrière atypique et remarquable.
Idrissia, merci d’être avec nous aujourd’hui. Directrice Marketing de Visit Greenland, une destination exotique, et l’aventure par excellence… Comment en êtes-vous arrivé là?
Idrissia - Je suis partie en voyage au Groenland en 2007 et tombée follement amoureuse de la destination. J’ai prolongé mon séjour plusieurs fois et de retour en France, j’ai quitté mon boulot pour partir vivre là-bas. J’ai alors travaillé en freelance sur des projets de communication et avec une compagnie locale, le Groenland est une petite communauté ou le lien se fait très vite. J’ai donc ainsi rencontré la directrice de l’office du tourisme de Nuuk à un dîner, et elle m’a recruté localement. Mon parcours s’est vraiment fait de façon très spontanée et par le biais de rencontres fortuites.
Après quelque temps, je suis revenu en France pour passer mon Master en Ingénierie du Développement Durable (réchauffement climatique, impact au Groenland) puis de retour au Groenland, une nouvelle rencontre, cette fois-ci avec Visit Greenland, qui m’embauche pour organiser le salon Vestnorden, je ne les ai plus quitté depuis.
Le Groenland fascine, destination mystérieuse avec ses fameux icebergs géants, culture inuit, les baleines et ce territoire gigantesque si peu habité, alors qu’est ce qui vous anime autour de cette région?
Idrissia - Le Groenland est un pays où il est très facile de mettre en place de nouveaux projets ce qui est vraiment motivant. Les gens sont très proches de la nature, et les uns des autres, mais pour moi le plus important c’est vraiment l’aspect humain. Les rencontres avec un peuple très accueillants, porte grande ouverte, immersion totale. Une destination irréelle (si différente des autres destinations) la fusion de la culture Groenlandaise avec les icebergs la rend unique, et elle a le pouvoir de transformer une personne dans sa relation à elle-même, à la nature et aux autres.
Nous le savons, le Groenland est par essence le voyage d’aventure, et nous avons eu le plaisir de vous compter parmi les membres de notre communauté depuis de nombreuses années alors qu’est ce que la communauté d’ATTA vous à apporté au niveau personnel et professionnel?
Idrissia - Je suis connectée au réseau ATTA depuis 2013, grâce à une première rencontre avec Chris Doyle, invité à Vestnorden. L’avantage de faire partie de cette communauté est de se rapprocher de personnes qui partagent la même vision du tourisme, en particulier la notion de Tourisme Durable. Cela permet d’avancer ensemble et de faire bouger les choses plus facilement et plus vite. C’est une communauté riche et accueillante qui partage nos valeurs et nous inspire.

Visit Greenland is one of the ATTA champions, having joined us over 15 years ago. Idrissia is one of ATTA's ambassadors, she is French and yet she manages the destination Greenland, an isolated land that makes you dream. We gave her the floor and I hope that her testimony will inspire you not only to visit this magnificent country but also around an atypical and remarkable career path.
Idrissia, thank you for being with us today. Marketing Director of Visit Greenland, an exotic destination, and the ultimate adventure ... How did you get there?
Idrissia – I went on a trip to Greenland in 2007 and fell madly in love with the destination. I extended my stay several times and when I returned to France, I quit my job to go and live in Greenland. I then worked freelance on communication projects and with a local company, Greenland is a small community where connections are made very quickly. So I met the manager of the Nuuk tourism office at a dinner party, and she recruited me locally. My journey has really been very spontaneous and through chance encounters.
After some time, I returned to France to take my Master in Sustainable Development Engineering (global warming, impact in Greenland). Once I graduated I returned to Greenland, and a new meeting, this time with Visit Greenland, led to them hiring me to organize the Vestnorden event; I have never left ever since.
Greenland is fascinating, a mysterious destination with its famous giant icebergs, Inuit culture, whales, and this gigantic territory so sparsely inhabited, so what inspired you most about this destination and living there?
Idrissia – Greenland is a country where it is very easy to set up new projects which is really motivating. People are very close to nature, and to each other, but for me the most important thing is really the human aspect. Connecting with very welcoming people, with their door wide open, in total immersion. A surreal destination (so different from other destinations), the fusion of Greenlandic culture with icebergs makes it so unique, and it has the power to transform a person in their relationship to themselves, to nature, and to others.
We know that Greenland is in essence adventure travel, and we have had the pleasure of having you as a member of our community for many years so what has the ATTA community brought to you from a personal and professional level?
Idrissia – I have been connected to the ATTA network since 2013, thanks to first meeting with Chris Doyle, an invited guest to Vestnorden. The advantage of being part of this community is to get closer to people who share the same vision of tourism, in particular the notion of Sustainable Tourism. It helps move forward together and get things done easier and faster. It is a rich and welcoming community that shares our values and inspires us.
