Boston, MA – For the third straight year, the Boston Business Journal and the Commonwealth Institute have named Ciclismo Classico as one of Boston’s top 100 woman-led businesses. Ciclismo Classico, founded by Lauren Hefferon in 1988, offers authentic, unique and culturally-rich cycling vacations worldwide. It is one of the most respected boutique operators in the travel industry, garnering awards from Outside, Forbes, Bicycling Magazine and National Geographic Traveler, among others. Hefferon is considered a pioneer in both the cycling and travel spheres and continues to expand her company’s offerings every year.

“It is an honor to be amidst such a variety of hard-working women of diverse backgrounds who are juggling busy lives while fulfilling their entrepreneurial dreams and passions,” said Hefferon.

Ciclismo Classico celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 and Hefferon still drives all visionary aspects of the company, from itinerary design and tour leader training, to marketing and company strategy.  She has been an advisor to the Adventure Travel World Summit, a panelist at the annual National Bike Summit Panel on Tourism, and founded the annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival.

Under Hefferon’s guidance, Ciclismo Classico has blossomed into a leader in the adventure travel industry, garnering awards from Outside and National Geographic Traveler.  Ciclismo Classico tours have been featured in an array of media outlets, ranging from USA Today and The Wall Street Journal, to Bicycling, CNN and Forbes. Hefferon herself has been profiled by Entrepreneur and Inc. magazine. Commuting everywhere by bike Hefferon supports cycling causes, such as Rails to Trails, Bikes Belong, Pan Mass Challenge and Mass Bike
