Boston – Lauren Hefferon, founder/CEO of Ciclismo Classico, is delighted to celebrate the company’s 25th Anniversary this fall. As a specialized "boutique" tour operator since 1988, Ciclismo Classico provides authentic, unique, and exciting vacations in the adventure travel industry. Its well-crafted cycling tours are active immersions into local art, language, music, and cuisine. For more information on Ciclismo Classico, visit www.ciclismoclassico.com.

“I am so proud of our company and what we’ve accomplished over the last quarter century,” said Hefferon. “Ever since I was in high school I have had a simple, but highly personal entrepreneurial goal: I wanted my life and business to revolve around cycling. Mission accomplished!”

While attending Cornell University, Hefferon led student bike tours and bike touring courses for Cornell’s Wilderness Reflections. After graduating, she was awarded a Rotary Scholarship to study Art in Florence, Italy, where she cycled over 200 miles a week. After three years, she returned to the USA for art school, all the while envisioning starting a bicycle tour business. In 1988, Ciclismo Classico was born with two 12-day itineraries in Tuscany.

“When I started imagining the idea of my own bicycle touring company, I envisioned bringing together all of my passions: cycling, travel, art, teaching, meeting new people, creative expression, culture, nature, photography, and writing, and making a difference in the world,” said Hefferon. “We have been able to do that with Ciclismo Classico, and I could not be more proud.”

Hefferon drives all visionary aspects of Ciclismo Classico, from itinerary design and tour leader training to marketing and company strategy. Commuting everywhere by bike, she supports cycling causes, such as Rails to Trails, Bikes Belong, Pan Mass Challenge and Mass Bike.
