In anticipation of the global spotlight on Puerto Natales during the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) 2025, Chile’s National Tourism Service (SERNATUR) has launched a comprehensive experiential training initiative aimed at strengthening the readiness of Chilean tourism businesses to engage with international trade partners and maximize the Summit’s opportunities.
Through a robust hybrid model of education and capacity-building, SERNATUR is empowering local operators, guides, and hospitality professionals to refine their products and elevate their business strategies in alignment with international standards. This program is part of a broader vision to create a ripple effect of transformation across Chile’s adventure travel sector.
Preparing for Global Exposure
Set to take place in Puerto Natales from October 13-16, 2025, ATWS will bring together hundreds of industry leaders, buyers, and media from around the world. In preparation, SERNATUR has been proactive in positioning Chilean tourism companies to thrive at this global gathering.
The training initiative, conceived under the banner of AdventureEDU Chile 2025, includes both virtual and in-person components designed to support product development, business growth, and long-term international partnerships.
Virtual Sessions: Building Foundations
In March 2025, tourism professionals from across Chile—representing tour operators, guides, travel agencies, transport companies, and accommodations—participated in a virtual training focused on Business Management and Community Building. These sessions introduced key strategies for operational efficiency, collaborative networks, and community engagement, laying a strong foundation for deeper, hands-on learning.
In-Person Immersion in Puerto Natales
Following the virtual training, in May 2025, participants gathered in Puerto Natales for a four-day immersive training experience. The program included intensive sessions on Experience Design, Sales & Trade Marketing, Business Management, and B2B Marketplace Readiness. The dynamic setting allowed participants to apply learning in real-world contexts, further anchoring new skills and strategies.
“Puerto Natales isn’t just the host of the Summit, it is a wonderful place to hold an adventure tourism training, it’s a Living Classroom,” said Andrés Diaz, ATTA Educator, “This training was about equipping local operators and other businesses in the adventure tourism value chain with the tools and confidence needed to thrive in the international market and to build long-term partnerships around sustainable tourism.”

Creating Pathways for Excellence
The initiative is more than just preparation for a single event, it represents a long-term investment in the future of Chile’s adventure travel industry. By sparking a nationwide learning movement centered on product readiness and B2B marketing, SERNATUR hopes to ignite meaningful change throughout the tourism supply chain.
As an added incentive, one standout participant from the AdventureEDU Chile 2025 program will be awarded a complimentary registration to ATWS 2025. This opportunity not only recognizes excellence but encourages active engagement with global partners during the Summit.
With eyes on October, SERNATUR and its partners are cultivating a generation of adventure travel leaders ready to showcase Chile’s unique offerings to the world, and forge connections that last well beyond the Summit.
