The Adventure Travel Trade Association, with strategic partner PromPeru, recently aired an informational webinar called Peru, Authentic Experiences for the Adventure Seeking. Based on search numbers gleaned from ATTA's consumer site, adventure.travel, South American adventure tourism demand is high, with Peru topping the charts as third most searched destination.
Speakers from PromPeru, Mountain Lodges of Peru and Delfin Cruise Lines presented on the nation's rich natural and cultural offering, focusing on the unique opportunities taking shape in two different regions of Peru. The Amazon Rain Forest was named one of the Natural Wonders of the World in 2012 and Cusco entered the ranks of the Seven Wonders of the World, thanks to Machu Picchu. Peru is expected to increase inbound visitation in the year ahead.
