The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) will bring AdventureWEEK Peloponnese to southern Greece in May 2026, offering an immersive, weeklong exploration of one of Europe’s most diverse and under-recognized adventure travel regions through two possible itineraries. Designed as a catalyst for long-term destination development, the event will spotlight the Peloponnese’s growing role as a sustainable, trail-driven adventure destination while connecting international buyers, media, and regional stakeholders through shared, on-the-ground experience.
Hosted by the Peloponnese Region with the strategic support of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), AdventureWEEK Peloponnese is rooted in a strategic objective: strengthening international visibility for the region’s adventure assets while advancing initiatives that support responsible tourism growth, including the expansion and promotion of the Peloponnese Trails network. Rather than a traditional conference format, AdventureWEEK emphasizes immersion—allowing participants to experience firsthand the landscapes, activities, and communities shaping the destination’s future.
What is AdventureWEEK?
AdventureWEEK is ATTA’s immersive event format designed to support destination development through deep, experiential engagement. Unlike traditional conferences, AdventureWEEK brings a small group of vetted buyers and media into a destination for several days of hands-on exploration, relationship-building, and knowledge exchange. The format prioritizes sustainability, community connection, and long-term value for host destinations and participants alike.
A Landscape Made for Movement
The Peloponnese offers an unusually dense concentration of adventure environments within a compact geographic area. Mountain ranges, gorges, forests, wetlands, and an extensive coastline come together to support a wide range of active experiences, often layered with cultural and culinary encounters. AdventureWEEK Peloponnese will focus on activities that best reflect this diversity, including hiking and trail adventures, cycling, climbing, sea kayaking, sailing, and soft adventure experiences integrated with local gastronomy and heritage.
At the heart of the program is the Peloponnese Trails initiative, a growing network of long-distance and flagship routes that connect landscapes, villages, and cultural landmarks. Signature routes such as the Menalon Trail, Abeliona, and Mount Taygetos demonstrate how trails can function as both adventure infrastructure and community connectors—supporting year-round travel, dispersing visitor flows, and delivering tangible benefits to rural communities.
From Coastlines to Cultural Anchors
AdventureWEEK Peloponnese will also highlight the region’s coastal and marine environments, including the Mani Coast, Navarino Bay, and the historic harbor of Nafplio–Bourtzi, where paddling and sailing intersect with centuries of maritime history. Inland, natural sites such as Lake Stymphalia and dramatic gorges offer opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and storytelling rooted in mythology and conservation.
Cultural heritage plays a central role in the Peloponnese’s adventure narrative. Sites such as Mystras, a UNESCO World Heritage landmark, illustrate how archaeology and history are woven into active travel experiences, adding depth and meaning for travelers seeking immersive, place-based journeys.
A Strategic Platform for Buyers and Media
AdventureWEEK Peloponnese is designed to engage adventure-specialist buyers and international media from key source markets across Europe and North America. Priority will be given to professionals focused on sustainable tourism, hiking and trail-based products, culture-driven itineraries, and small-group or FIT travel. The region aims to connect with both buyers new to the Peloponnese and those already selling Greece who are looking to expand beyond well-known destinations or peak-season offerings.
Media participation will focus on generating high-quality, story-driven coverage that positions the Peloponnese as a connected, sustainable adventure destination with global relevance.
Adventure travel buyers and media interested in participating in AdventureWEEK Peloponnese are invited to apply.
Building Long-Term Momentum
More than a showcase, AdventureWEEK Peloponnese reflects a long-term vision for adventure tourism as a driver of regional resilience. By centering trails, sustainability, and integrated cultural experiences, the Peloponnese is positioning itself as a destination aligned with evolving traveler expectations—and ready to welcome the global adventure travel community in meaningful ways.
