atmex-2015-logo(SEATTLE) March 26, 2015 – The 2015 Adventure Travel Mexico (ATMEX) event will return to adventure travel hub, Chiapas, Mexico. This is the fourth year that Visit Mexico, in partnership with the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), will host ATMEX with the goal of bringing awareness to Mexico’s adventure travel offerings, providing educational opportunities and creating a foundation for long-term business partnerships.

“Chiapas is home to Mexico’s most impressive Mayan sites with easy access to kayaking, hiking, river rafting and culinary adventures,” says the ATTA’s Executive Director for Latin America, Antonio del Rosal. “It’s the center for incredible opportunities for a new kind of Mexican tourism. The ATTA is working to make sure ‘adventure’ and ‘Chiapas’ are words that are always seen together.”

From August 26 - 29, 2015, over 400 inbound Mexican operators, outbound tour operators, international buyers and media will gather to learn more about the benefits of offering adventure travel throughout Mexico. Through a dynamic business-to-business marketplace and educational sessions on adventure travel best practices and trends, ATMEX attendees will walk away with insights and new partnerships that will help them grow the adventure travel industry in Mexico.

Prior to ATMEX, Chiapas and Mexican states such as the Yucatan, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosi, among others will offer a series of expense-paid familiarization trips for qualified buyers and media that will showcase those destinations.

Adventure highlights may include colonial cities and coffee plantations, wide turquoise rivers and lagoons, Mayan ancient cities only reachable by boat, jungles, cloud forests and coastal swamps. While hiking, biking and rafting participants may experience endemic wildlife and ancient living cultures.

The ATTA is developing the educational component for ATMEX as well as inviting key outbound buyers from around the world with an interest in understanding and selling adventure travel trips to Mexico. To learn more about ATMEX and pre-register as a buyer or media, visit the ATMEX website.
