The pandemic slowed international travel to a near full and complete stop but that did not keep travelers from getting outside and into nature to enjoy all the benefits it brings. And wherever there are outdoor experiences there are also cameras in motion creating stories to be shared with friends, family, and the adventure travel community.

The beauty of video storytelling and the passion of adventure filmmakers in the community sparked the return of Adventure Travel Trade Association’s (ATTA) annual Adventure in Motion short film contest. In partnership with Bulgaria and Adventure.Travel, ATTA is now accepting submissions for the seventh year of the Adventure in Motion short film competition. Adventure in Motion is open to all in the adventure travel community including tourism organizations, tour operators, creative agencies, and individuals.

Filmmakers can now submit their short films, created within the last two years, that inspire viewers to experience adventure travel. This year, ATTA is specifically looking for films that tell authentic stories showing how Adventure needs nature, women, or community. Winners will be selected for each of these categories and the Adventure in Motion 2022 “Best Film” will be selected through in-person voting at the Adventure Travel World Summit being held in Lugano, Switzerland this 3-6 October. The Adventure In Motion film screening and voting has been one of the most anticipated evenings of the ATTA’s annual Adventure Travel World Summit - an event where hundreds of adventure industry professionals come together from around the world to exchange ideas, discuss future trends, and build genuine connections.

In 2019, the top films were featured in front of more than 750 adventure travel delegates representing 72 countries at the Adventure Travel World Summit in Gothenburg, Sweden. In a live vote, delegates chose the short film One Blood: Georgia by the Georgian National Tourism Administration as the winner.

The Best Film of the Adventure in Motion 2022 competition will be showcased on ATTA’s Adventure.Travel website, promoted in the Adventure.Travel newsletter distributed to nearly 60,000 travelers, featured in AdventureTravelNews to a trade audience of over 35,000 industry professionals, destinations, and media, as well as exposure through ATTA’s many social channels. In addition, the winner will receive a one-year ATTA membership and registration to the 2023 Adventure Travel World Summit in Hokkaido, Japan.
