Jorge Perez, owner of Tierra del Volcan and Hacienda El Porvenir, has confirmed that the guests, the staff and the infrastructure are fine and all operations are continuing as per normal. Roads connecting the Hacienda with Quito and other major highland destinations are open.

The damage from the quake has affected the coastal provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabi, closest to the epicenter. Thankfully, other regions of Ecuador, such as the Andes, Amazon and Galapagos are unaffected by the quake. Critical infrastructure, such as airports, roads and ground transport remain open and fully operational

Perez adds, "We thank you so much for your concern and messages. We have felt the support and empathy of our guest and dearest friends from the travel industry on these difficult times. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who have lost loved ones, and those who are affected by this unexpected disaster."
