Tour operator buyers and travel advisors from North America are invited to explore Catalonia on a familiarization trip 18-24 September 2017 sponsored by the Catalan Tourist Board.
Located in Spain’s northeastern region, Catalonia is a diverse destination combining adventure with unique regional traditions and history. The six-day trip encompasses a variety of experiences from hiking in Catalonia’s only national park to touring Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Catalonia and the main entryway for visitors to the region.
“Catalonia is best known by its fascinating capital, Barcelona, and it offers in a small territory a great diversity of tourism experiences for outdoor and nature lovers,” said Cristina Gargallo, director of North America of the Catalan Tourist Board. “During the FAM trip, you will discover its high mountains, sunny Mediterranean coastline, rich cultural heritage, and exceptional cuisine.”
Attendees will have a chance to cycle through Val d’Aran, a high mountain territory known for its winter sports and picturesque peaks, and visit the Romanesque-style Vall de Boí churches, which have been designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Adventure meets the local cuisine at the Oller del Mas winery, with a 4×4 trip around the vineyards followed by a wine and oil tasting. A day at Montserrat Monastery begins with a hiking tour or climbing activity followed by a guided tour of the monastery. The trip ends in Barcelona, where trip attendees will have the chance to view the city from aboard a catamaran. (View the full itinerary.)
“We are very excited to support the Catalan Tourism Board’s FAM trip this September,” said Gabriella Stowell, regional manager of Latin America for ATTA. “This is an excellent opportunity for buyers to adventure through Catalonia’s Pyrenees, rivers, lakes, canyons, villages, and sanctuaries, learn about its culture, and savor delicious Catalan food and wine.”
Tour operators and travel advisors from North America are invited to apply to attend. Organizations from other regions may also be considered. The application deadline is 15 August.
