Latin America and Polar Travel Specialists, Chimu Adventures, will be hosting Jennifer Byrne and Andrew Denton aboard their Antarctica Untouched voyage. Sailing on Chimu’s brand new vessel, the Ocean Endeavour, the Chimu Exclusive Cruise will depart on the 22nd November 2020 and will be raising funds for the Mawson’s Huts Foundation.

As very well-known and loved Australian TV personalities, plus a husband/wife duo, Jennifer and Andrew share a deep affection for Antarctica. This will be Andrew’s sixth and Jennifer’s fifth visit to the magnificent white continent having travelled with Chimu Adventures twice previously, the last time being February 2017. The November 2020 voyage will see them share their passion for this destination with under 200 other passengers via intimate lectures and discussions and Chimu are overjoyed to be sharing the experience with them again.

Jennifer describes the ethereal nature of travelling to Antarctica: “Given that we cannot yet fly into outer space, Antarctica is the closest that you can get.” Antarctica Untouched will depart from the world’s southernmost city, Ushuaia in Argentina, on 22nd November and will sail for 11 days across the unpredictable Drake Passage on to the serenity of the Antarctic Peninsula.
November is the beginning of the Antarctic season so guests can expect to see pristine scenery such as glaciers, icebergs and snow-covered mountains as well as wildlife like nesting penguins, migrating whales and seals. As Andrew explains, you are at the mercy of these incredible elements in Antarctica and its very nature can never be predicted: “You never know, from one day to the next, one hour to the next, what is going to happen in Antarctica.”

Chimu Exclusive Cruises such as this always have a fundraising mission at their core and this voyage will be raising important funds for the Mawson’s Huts Foundation, a charity which is vital for the preservation of Australia’s important Antarctica history and one that is very close to Chimu’s heart.

The expedition will be aboard the Ocean Endeavour. This is Chimu’s brand new small ship which they are running in partnership with Peregrine. Carrying less than 200 passengers, the ship offers guests a comfortable experience with sustainability as a top priority: all departures will be double carbon offset, only sustainable seafood will be served and there will be no single use plastics. There is an emphasis on educational lectures from passionate biologists, historians and geologists outlining the delicate nature of the Antarctic environment and the need to return as a ‘polar ambassador’ for its protection.

Agents can find out more about the Ocean Endeavour here and marketing tools for Chimu Exclusive Cruises can be found here. With less than 200 berths available on this voyage, availability is expected to fill up quickly, so clients are advised to book early if they too would like to visit Antarctica with Jennifer Byrne and Andrew Denton. Most of Chimu’s Destination Specialists have travelled to Antarctica so are well versed on all things polar. They will be able to arrange all international and domestic travel arrangements – contact them here.
