Rock Island, TN - In celebration of National Let’s Go Paddling Month, Olympian and four-time freestyle kayak world champion Eric Jackson is launching a promotional campaigns rooted in his own life-long love affair with kayaking. The Fun for Life campaign will award one lucky boater a Jackson Kayak Fun series boat each time a new edition of the model is released as long as they are active paddlers.

The Fun for Life promotion kicks off this Memorial Day weekend at CKS Paddlefest in Buena Vista, CO and runs through the end of June, National Let’s Go Paddling Month. Eligibility for the Fun for Life contest is open to anyone who meets two simple criteria: purchase any Jackson Kayak Fun series boat from any North American Jackson Kayak dealer during the month of June; register the new boat purchase at the Jackson Kayak website. On July 15, Jackson will announce the lucky winner of a Fun for Life, chosen by random draw from among all eligible new Fun owners.

The Fun is the first boat model with which Jackson launched his company eight years ago. Jackson’s Fun 1 and Fun 1.5 were the first performance boats ever made expressly for kids, literally cutting in half the age at which children could begin to kayak on their own. The basis of the Fun series design is a super comfortable, stable easy to river run kayak, with lots of great playboating features neatly designed into it. A mainstay of the product lineup of the family-friendly company, the Fun series boats have been updated twice since its debut, most recently in 2010.

“Paddling is a sport that delivers maximum fun your whole life,” said Jackson. He should know. At 47, Jackson will be competing against a global field of top kayakers nearly half his age when he seeks his fifth world title at the International Canoe Federation Freestyle Kayak World Championship in Plattling, Germany later in June. Jackson is living proof, to the extreme, that kayaking can be a family affair. Joining him in Europe will be his wife Kristine, the reigning women’s and men’s World Freestyle Kayak Champs, daughter Emily and son-in-law Nick Troutman and Jackson’s much-decorated son Dane, a top contender to win the junior men’s class and possibly up to three other open age classes for which he is qualified to compete at Worlds. This will be KC Jackson’s first trip to a World Championship, though he will not be competing yet since he’s just three years old.

The goal of National Let’s Go Paddling Month is to raise awareness and participation in paddling by new and lapsed boaters regardless of type of water – flatwater, whitewater, freshwater, and saltwater. Jackson Kayak seeded the Let’s Go Paddling campaign that launched last year and hopes to see the program continue to grow. The foundation of the campaign is a nationwide network of Welcome Centers that agree to offer at least one free Intro to Paddling event during the month of June. The program has the support of the National Park Service, National Wildlife Refuge System, the President’s Challenge, America’s State Parks, USA Canoe Kayak and the American Canoe Association. Details of the program and a Welcome Center locator can be found at the Let’s Go Paddling website.

Concurrently, Jackson Kayak is also sponsoring another Let’s Go Paddling Month promotion, the Inspiring Journeys Video Contest. That contest, which can be found on the Let’s Go Paddling Facebook fan page, will award two boats to the person who submits the most inspiring, three-minute or less, video story of a transformational personal journey. One boat will be the winner’s choice from Jackson Kayak’s complete line of whitewater, recreational, touring and fishing kayaks. The winner’s designated non-profit will win a Jackson Kayak Journey touring boat which may be used as a fundraiser.
