The Coupe De Huế, Gran Fondo Sportive cycling event is an exciting, new and unique event taking place in August 2018, intended to promote cycling in Vietnam on an international stage. Never before achieved, it will become the first Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI)-registered Gran Fondo Sportive event in Vietnam and only one of a limited number in Southeast Asia. With plans to feature on the international race calendar of the UCI in 2019, this race promises to attract some of the best riders around with a riding distance of 138 kilometers or 86 miles.
Huế’s beautiful mountain and coastal backdrop, rich in history and quality cultural experiences make it a perfect place for such an event.
The event will take place over the weekend of 25–26 August 2018, with the main Gran Fondo Sportive event (86 miles/138 km) held early on the Sunday morning. Proceedings will center around the ancient Citadel located on the Perfume River. Preceding the main event will be a Kids' Dash (6 miles/10 km) and a Warm-Up Ride (25 miles/40km) on the Saturday afternoon. In addition to the cycling there will be a concert with a range of live music on the stage for all to enjoy as well as a wealth of good food on offer to make this a truly international event.
The event will help to put the cultural Huế city firmly on the world sporting calendar and heighten its international tourism image.
