Canyons is an outdoor adventure company based in Japan. Our mission is to “refresh society through sustainable world class outdoor adventure experiences”. We specialize in providing quality experiences throughout the four seasons. From
spring to autumn, you can enjoy white water rafting, canyoning and climbing, while winter is all about the backcountry skiing and snowboarding, ski and snowboard instruction and snowshoeing. Throughout the year, Canyons also offers caving, team- building activities and outdoor education programs.
Our company prides itself on having a wide variety of quality courses available for each activity, meaning that adventures can be matched to suit each client’s requirements—be it the thrill level, wilderness level, fitness level, duration or goals. Our broad client base includes companies (for team building, bonding and social events), international schools (outdoor education) and private thrill seekers and families.
At present, Canyons has three main base locations around Japan: Minakami, Kusatsu and Akagi(all in Gunma Prefecture), but also has affiliations with companies in Ooboke(Shikoku Island) and Hakuba (Nagano Prefecture). We also do special tours to many other regions of Japan and can create customized special tours depending on clients needs.
Minakami is the most popular option, thanks to its proximity to Tokyo (75 mins by train) and the huge range of outdoor adventures available. In summer, these include rafting, canyoning, bungy jumping, downhill mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing,hiking, horse riding, paragliding and more. Our Minakami base has a capacity of over 300 people per day during the Summer months but the quality is kept high by putting out a large number of small tours to many unique locations.
The company’s guides and instructors are all internationally qualified professionals with vast experience in conducting outdoor adventures and entertaining clients. A day with the Canyons crew is guaranteed to be a refreshing and memorable experience!
