Nicole Petrak

ATTA AdventureEDU and Research Manager

Since joining the ATTA team in early 2010, Nicole has performed a variety of roles. In her current position as Managing Editor of AdventureTravelNews, she tracks, reports and speaks on industry trends ranging from adventure and sustainable tourism, key industry niches, and business management topics, including digital media trends, social platforms, and online marketing.

She also manages ATTA’s New Media Projects, managing social platforms, working with the media community, assisting in the Webinar and AdventureConnect programs, as well as playing a key role in ATTA’s new consultative and educational program, AdventureEDU.

Nicole came from a background in social media and marketing consulting, real estate, small business management and hospitality before taking a sabbatical which found her spending over a year of enthusiastic vagrancy — surfing and hiking through Costa Rica, volunteering at a daycare and vocational center at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, camping and diving up the coast of Australia, and backpacking through China, Tibet, India and Europe — before finally coming home to a career within the adventure travel ‘tribe.’

She holds an MBA from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, a BA in Literature, and a BA in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara. When she’s not working on her travel bucket list, she enjoys life in San Francisco, CA.
