Since the earthquake shook Nepal, the ATTA has been partnering with the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) to find the best ways to engage our communities in meaningful immediate relief efforts.

In mid-May the OIA began requesting specific gear donations from their members:

Then, ATTA member Dharma Adventures put us in touch with Samaritan’s Purse (Charity Navigator Rating: Four Star / 96.17), a Boone, North Carolina-based charity engaged in International Relief efforts around the world. They have weekly planes going to Nepal to deliver donated gear. Since OIA had the gear coming in and there was now a way to get it to Nepal, OIA members started shipping gear directly to North Carolina. As soon as there is a plane full of gear, off it will go to Nepal.

Our friends at World Wildlife Fund are also taking advantage of the cargo transportation to Nepal. They are sending 20 pallets of gear to North Carolina, where their volunteers are helping to pack it up and get it ready to go to Nepal.

It’s simple, it’s specific and it’s supremely helpful. More information about how to get involved with the OIA’s gear donation is here.

Thanks for keeping Nepal in your thoughts and plans. It has only been a month since the country was devastated. The ATTA continues to work on AdventureWeek Rebound Nepal, and more information is coming soon. Keep up-to-date on all Nepal efforts here. #AdventureCares
