Venice, CA – Experienced outfitter Adventure International has gotten into the Active Yoga retreat business. “There is a gap in the market – people love to do yoga and travel to exotic locations but they donʼt want to spend the whole time in a studio practicing – they want to get out there and see the country they are traveling to, actually go on a hike and be active.” Says Managing Director, Frank Castro. “Weʼve partnered with fitness and yoga professionals to combine our assets – our ability and reputation as an operator, and their ability and reputation as fitness gurus. Many of the adventurers we take on trips are also yogis – myself included – so Active Yoga trips seem like a natural fit. The niche we are trying to fill is Adventure Yoga or Fitness Retreats, where people get out of the studios and into nature!”

Adventure International just wrapped up their first trip of that nature “Yoga Beach & Safari,” led by well-known LA-Based Yogi and fitness expert, Elise Joan (Equinox, Bliss, Red Bull, Google and Lulu Lemon Ambassador) last month. The trip featured the best of Tanzania – Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge in Arusha, game drives in the Serengeti, a beach trip to Zanzibar and of course, sunrise and sunset yoga sessions. Elise Joan says of her trip, “It's been such a miraculous journey in so many ways...[sic] I am so touched by all who traveled halfway around the globe to join me, and all those who call Africa home. It was a joy to share yoga, love, inspiration, devotion, meditation, and practice with so many. A reminder that whether we are American, African, Maasai, an askari, villagers, elders or children... We are all one.”

Next, Adventure International will embark on a new trip, this time to Chilean Patagonia. Co-led again by Lulu Lemon Ambassadors (also Pilates, spin, and fitness instructors), Chelsea Kruse and Lindsay Whitley, a group of 10 will depart to Santiago, Chile December 1st and make their way down to Torres del Paine National Park where they will visit the famous highlights of Las Torres, French Valley, Glacier Grey, and Laguna Azul to name a few. The trip starts December 2nd and ends the 10th, 2013. The group will stay at famed EcoCamp Patagonia: the regions first fully sustainable accommodation.
