World Expeditions is thrilled to announce a suite of Gourmet adventures to a range of six exciting destinations around the world. Each trip is lead by a culinary mastermind and the itineraries have been especially designed to showcase the food of the region while ensuring that the trips take in the best of the countries that they visit.

“Our clients have always had a passion for food and we have a long history of culinary tours with people such as Kylie Kwong and Joanna Savill. However this year’s suite of adventures are our most comprehensive to date,” says World Expeditions CEO Sue Badyari.

The journeys are characterized by their focus on food – cooking, appreciating and eating. Guided by a culinary expert who will share unique insights and knowledge with the group, guests are treated to hard to find culinary delights, immersed in the cooking process from food source to table and enlightened by the cultural desserts of their chosen destination.

Crave Festival Director Joanna Savill will lead her culinary tour to exotic Peru. The 16 day trip, which departs 10 November, will take in markets, street food, superb modern eateries as well as cooking and cocktail classes. And no visit to Peru would be complete without including the remarkable Inca ruins, Machu Picchu.

Masterchef finalist Jimmy Seervai is leading a food adventure through India. The 18 day culinary tour has two departures, October 2011 and March 2012. Staying at beautiful heritage hotels, the journey will encompass master classes with Jimmy together with well-known Indian chefs while also dining in specialty restaurants across this fascinating county from south to north.

Chef Will Meyrick, of Longrain and Jimmy Liks fame, now runs ‘Sarong’ in Seminyak, Bali and will be escorting guests on a culinary journey while touring this small island with an immense and diverse cultural history. The days consist of cooking classes, market visits and sightseeing while the nights are spent sampling the best Balinese cuisine and accommodation in some of the island’s premier hotels. The 10 day tour departs 8 May 2012.

Melbourne’s well known cookery teacher and Moroccan food expert Meera Freeman will delve into the backbone of modern and traditional Moroccan cuisine. With an itinerary that has been designed to take in the essence of this fascinating country, there will be Moroccan cooking lessons from great chefs, shopping excursions in the souks and time to explore the great sights of Morocco.

The Truffles, Wine, Poets and Pilgrims culinary journey into Northern Italy will visit Parma, the undisputed gourmet capital of Emilla Romagna. Guests will discover an untouched area of Tuscany before exploring the colourful seaside villages of the Cinque Terre. Together with beautiful hotels, stunning walks, cooking classes, exceptional food and wine (including the legendary while truffle of Alba) this is a true culinary journey. The 15 day trip departs 15 October 2011. The trip is lead by local expert Jackie Parsons who has an intimate knowledge of the region and its culinary treasures.

The final journey in our Gourmet Adventures is along the spiritual pilgrimage trail to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The trip will be led by culinary author Dee Nolan, who is known around Australia for her fine organic extra virgin olive oil, Nolan’s Road. Dee’s recently published book, A Food Lover’s Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compestela, is a pictorial tribute to the Spanish section of the trail and encompasses much of the places visited during this 15 day trip. Dee will lead guests on beautiful walks along sections of the Camino, with visits to producers, vineyards and a selection of wonderful restaurants all part of the experience. With only one departure on 1st September 2012 this is sure to be a popular trip.
