This year Volcanoes Safaris celebrates fifteen years as a leader in the safari and adventure travel world. Established in 1997 by Praveen Moman and Yusuf Mulima Mubiru, Volcanoes Safaris’ journey has been at the forefront of the revival of adventure and eco- tourism in Uganda and Rwanda.“The Volcanoes team has worked hard to overcome the legacy of conflict in the 1990s and rebuild tourism in this area throughout the past fifteen years,” says Praveen Moman, co-founder and managing director of Volcanoes Safaris. “Today we celebrate the close and warm relationships we have developed with many travelers from around the world; the many travel companies that have supported us, the commitment of our staff, our partnerships with communities and of course the people of Uganda and Rwanda. As part of this year’s milestone celebration,Volcanoes announces a new safari: 7 Day Gorillas in Rwanda and Chimps and Wildlife in Uganda. The safari will take guests from the forested slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, through the vast savannah plains of the Western Rift Valley to the shores of Lake Victoria. The journey starts with gorilla tracking in the lush forests of the Virunga Volcanoes, where guests will spend three nights at the Volcanoes Virunga Lodge. From there, it continues with three nights at Volcanoes Kyambura Gorge Lodge, with chimp tracking and game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park, which offers an intimate safari unspoiled by mass tourism, with elephant, lion - including the unusual tree-climbing lions of Ishasha - buffalo, leopard, hippo and antelope. Throughout the safari, travelers will be accompanied by trained, knowledgeable guides.
Additionally, Volcanoes Safaris is launching the following initiatives to commemorate this milestone year:
- 15 Prizes: The first 15 confirmed safaris using the code ‘15YEARS,’ receive 15% off the standard itinerary price.
- Volcanoes Safaris is planting 15 trees in Kyambura Gorge for every three safaris sold. The trees are planted in the restoration areas in Uganda around the VS lodges.
- A series of special events.
Each lodge in the Volcanoes Collection provides a unique eco-luxury experience - from gorilla tracking at Virunga Lodge in Rwanda, hiking and culture at Mount Gahinga, chimpanzee and wildlife viewing at the contemporary Kyambura Gorge Lodge (featured on the 2012 Conde Nast Traveler Hot List), to a journey deep into the jungle to track gorillas from Bwindi Lodge. Guests can also fly to the different Volcanoes properties by private and scheduled charter planes. Volcanoes Lodges are the only properties in Uganda and Rwanda that are sold on an all-inclusive basis including all meals, soft and alcoholic drinks, complimentary massage and any activities guests may wish to indulge in around the lodge. The itineraries are available on a scheduled group departure or private, tailor-made basis.
