Latin America’s largest Adventure Travel Show to Showcase the State’s Various Offerings

Manhattan, NY - The state of Veracruz will once again host ATMEX from August 14-17, 2013. The largest adventure travel show in Latin America, it attracted more than 500 exhibitors and almost 200 international and national buyers last year. More than 2,000 meetings will take place during the 5-day event which will also feature workshops and presentations on the latest trends and innovations by some of the leading players in the industry.

Developed by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) with support from the Mexico Tourism Board, this year’s ATMEX will also have the largest Mexican delegation with more than 24 Mexican states already confirmed. ATMEX is expected to bring in 15 million USD to the state.

Veracruz is one of the most unique states in Mexico. Located along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and the Sierra Madre Oriental, the nation’s highest mountain range, its ports have been important trade routes since before the pre-Hispanic era. Culturally diverse with African and Spanish roots, many have come to know the state as the location for one of the most well-known Carnivals. It is also home to Magical Towns, the World Heritage site of El Tajin and the home to the Papantla dancers.

Because of the state’s rich biodiversity and natural settings, Veracruz is also an extremely popular destination for outdoor adventures. Enthusiasts have made the rapids of Jalcomulco, a popular place for water rafting while the Veracruz Coral Reef is world renowned for its colorful tropical fish, turtles and over 350 sunken ships from almost every time period in history. Sand boarding, ATVing, bird watching, mountain biking, horseback riding, camping, and sailing are also popular activities practiced in the many areas of the state.
