Prominent Publishing Exec Francis X. Farrell to Lead Media Group to Next Stage of Growth

Orlando, Fla. — Highly respected magazine executive Francis X. Farrell has been named president/CEO of Turnstile Publishing Company, effective immediately. The official announcement, delivered today by Chairman Rance Crain at the media group’s corporate headquarters, underscores Turnstile’s ongoing commitment to innovation and corporate brand development. Farrell, who will now oversee all branches of the company’s diverse media holdings, brings with him decades of strategic vision, industry expertise and broad leadership experience.

“Fran Farrell is a perfect fit for the Turnstile family because he is an accomplished, charismatic leader with a proven record of championing editorial excellence and building strong media brands,” said Crain. “Fran will play a decisive role in not only accelerating the advancement of our titles across all platforms, but also propelling us to the next big stage of growth.”

In addition to expanding the company’s portfolio of multiplatform programs and media properties, Farrell will focus on exploring emerging opportunities and further establishing Turnstile’s position as an industry leader.

“Media brands that participate in, rather than just report on, special interest areas are thriving.  There have never been more ways to interact with niche communities and the advertisers that serve them than there are now,” said Farrell. “Brands like Golfweek, Art Calendar and Turnstile’s community newspapers have developed tremendous expertise in serving the social networks in which their brands participate. I’m thrilled to have the chance to join a company that has positioned itself so well to contribute to the growth of the special interest areas they lead.”

Farrell’s extensive publishing background includes notable leadership roles as publisher of Men’s Journal, National Geographic Adventure and The Sporting News. He has also held a variety of high-level positions at American Express Publishing with Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure magazines. Farrell currently serves on the boards of both Green Team Advertising and Adventure Travel Trade Association.
