African Bush Camps introduces ‘The Safari Companion’ – a gift for our guests.

In an effort to help save the environment, African Bush Camps is proud to introduce ‘The Safari Companion’, a special gift for our guests. In a campaign to stop the use of environmentally unfriendly materials, African Bush Camps will provide every guest with a stainless steel drinking water bottle to be refilled with pure filtered water which has undergone a tripple water filtration system. The campaign aims to minimise the use of toxic plastic bottles which damage our precious environment. Whilst there will still be bottled water available in our camps, these will be kept to a minimum and we will have cold tripple filtered water systems available to refill your ‘Safari Companion’ and keep yourself re-hydrated on safari.

According to a report released in 2001 by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), roughly 1.5 million tons of plastic are expended in the bottling of 89 billion liters of water each year. Besides the sheer number of plastic bottles produced for bottled water distribution each year, the energy required to manufacture and transport these bottles to market, severely drains limited fossil fuels. Bottled water companies as a result are presenting a significant strain on the environment.

In addition to the above, African Bush Camps is currently in the process of converting all our camps to utilising solar heating and lighting systems.

African Bush Camps in collaboration with The African Bush Camps Foundation is committed to operating in a sustainable manner and ensuring that we preserve the environment, culture and conservation of the areas in which we operate.
