Washington, DC – With airline revenues continuing to rise, vacation bookings up, and ongoing traveler security issues, the travel and tourism industry remains at the forefront of news coverage. 2011 promises to be busy for these trends, and the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) will cover these and other industry developments as “Travel’s Most Trusted Voices.”

During SATW’s winter Board meeting in San Diego this past week, the Board announced the hiring of Praecere Public Relations LLC as SATW’s agency-of-record following a competitive RFP review. Praecere will work to generate SATW news coverage, grow the Society’s more than 1,200 membership, and capitalize on the travel and tourism industry’s influence across traditional and social media to enhance SATW’s brand presence. In addition to publicity outreach, Praecere will also assist the 55-year-old Society with a website overhaul, attracting sponsors for the 2011 SATW annual convention in New Zealand, and developing long-term partnership and business development strategies.
“As a media-based organization, SATW seeks to launch and report on the most exciting stories in travel and tourism journalism,” said SATW President Dale Leatherman. “SATW believes travel is the bridge between peoples, and we are confident Praecere’s winning strategies will elevate the SATW brand and reinforce the Society’s value to current and prospective members, sponsors, and business partners.”
“SATW’s broad membership and global reach provide this client tremendous publicity advantages,” said Praecere President Babak Zafarnia. “Praecere is keen to help SATW realize its mission to deliver the most high-quality and professional travel and tourism reporting and features. We are excited to work together and promote the SATW brand.”
SATW’s membership includes writers, editors, photographers, journalists, filmmakers, and communications professionals who specialize in the travel industry. SATW promotes responsible journalism, provides professional support and development for its members, and encourages the conservation and preservation of travel resources worldwide.
