Sites for caravans including modern infrastructure – that’s what Montenegro will be offering in its national parks starting June 2011. As there will not be more than 30 individual parking spaces, the pleasure of caravanning remains exclusive and close to nature. The new offer is part of the strategical tourism planning which, among other issues, envisages the development of new offers for sustainable tourism and a substantial improvement and upgrading of existing camping sites as well as the establishment of new ones.

Amidst Montenegro’s wild beauty

With its optimally equipped caravan sites in the national parks Durmitor, Biogradska Gora, Lake Skadar, Lovćen and Prokletije, Montenegro establishes itself as a new destination for demanding and nature-loving holiday-makers who appreciate this independent way of comfortable traveling. They find what one wishes for in the green: picturesque landscapes, protected natural and cultural monuments, glacial lakes and impressive mountain summits. To be able to accommodate yourself with your mobile home amidst the wild beauty and to move around freely hiking, cycling or mountain-biking is a particular Montenegrin offer.

Nature conservation, planning policy and population in harmony

The implementation of the project „5 in 5“ according to the latest requirements of sustainable planning policy continues the cautious touristic discovery of the hinterland. The local population is included in this merge of nature treasures with local tradition and culture as well as official and non- profit nature protection organizations.

Motivation for private initiatives

These first recreation vehicle sites with state-of-the-art infrastructure are a pilot project of the Ministry for Sustainable Development and Tourism. They are supposed to be a sample and motivation for the establishment of a countrywide network of modern, privately run caravan sites. Montenegro wants to establish itself as an attractive and comfortable destination also for demanding recreation vehicle holiday-makers.
