New York - The city of Quito has been named host city of the 37th annual Travel Mart Latin America (TMLA) scheduled to take place in September 2013. The announcement was made during this year’s conference which took place from September 13-15 in Cartagena, Colombia.

Quito, accompanied by 40 DMCs from across Ecuador, attended TMLA to promote its new and current tourism offerings, including its soon to open state-of-the-art Convention Center, the luxurious Ferrocarriles del Ecuador (Ecuador’s new train) and its new international airport which is scheduled to open at the beginning of 2013.

Quito expects to host more than a thousand international travel professionals during TMLA, providing them with an opportunity to experience the historical city first hand. TMLA will be the second international tourism event to take place in Quito in a row after this year’s World Tourism Organization’s 54th WTO Americas Meeting which tool place from September 11-13 and included the II International Ethics Congress and the 20th OAS Interamerican Tourism Congress. More than 400 guests, including Tourism Ministers and authorities from 25 countries, visited Quito for this conference and positioned it as an international meetings destination.

An UNESCO world heritage site, Quito is a quaint and colonial city equipped with superb infrastructure and the most modern services. Visitors will delight in its gastronomy and diverse landscape which allows for nature walks, bird watching, hiking, mountain biking and other great adventure and ecological tourism activities. Among its main attractions are the Avenue of the Volcanoes, Middle of the World Monument, its historic center and much more.
