Portsmouth, NH - The Board of Directors of Discover New England (DNE), the official tourism organization representing the New England region internationally, is pleased to announce Lori Harnois as its new executive director. Harnois will begin on August 1.

"Partnership with DNE affords Vermont a stronger marketing presence on the international stage," said Vermont Dept. of Tourism and Marketing Commissioner Megan Smith. "The collaborative media buys, industry trade shows, sales missions and public relations efforts allow for our limited budget to have a much broader impact."

Harnois brings to the organization an extensive background in international destination marketing, management and state government. She has worked for the New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism Development for the past 15 years holding such roles as Director and International Marketing Manager, and also serves on the board of the US Travel Association.

"I could not be more excited," Harnois said. “As a native New Englander, I’m thrilled to work with the tourism industry throughout the region and I feel honored to tell the world why New England is such a great place to visit."

Harnois will succeed Sue Norrington-Davies, who held this position for the past seven years. The Discover New England Board of Directors performed an extensive search and thorough interview process to fill this important position.  “Lori’s past experience is a great asset in continuing to move the organization forward,” said Board Chair, Betsy Wall.
