Adventure travel operator ranks fourth on top 10 list for 2016

MLP_LamayLodgeMountain Lodges of Peru was voted to Travel + Leisure magazine’s prestigious “The World’s Best Tour Operators” list for 2016, ranking number four out of 10 among top-tier travel companies. The award, as selected by the magazine’s readers, recognized the family-owned adventure travel operator just ahead of its 10th anniversary.

For “The World’s Best Awards” survey, readers contributed their travel experiences from around the world involving hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines and more. Tour operators were ranked based on their staff, itineraries, destinations, accommodations, food and overall value.

As part of the poll, one reader said “The guides showed excellent knowledge of culture, history, and archaeological digs. They encouraged respectful interaction with locals and environmentally friendly behaviors. And the destinations were outstanding—there is so much more to the Sacred Valley and the high passes surrounding it than just Machu Picchu.”

“We are honored and humbled by this recognition from a leader of the trade such as Travel + Leisure,” said Enrique Umbert Sr., president of Mountain Lodges of Peru. “At Mountain Lodges of Peru, we look forward to inspiring and generating transcendental change in people and places through adventure travel. It fills us with great pride to see that guests value our efforts to live by this philosophy as it is enacted through every action we take as an entrepreneurial community. Moving forward, here is our pledge and commitment to improve our performance and continue to offer outstanding experiences.”

Mountain Lodges of Peru specializes in upscale lodge-to-lodge trekking and multi-activity programs for adventurous travelers to explore and experience the beauty, culture and history of the Andean Highlands of Peru including the Salkantay Trek and the Lares Adventure to Machu Picchu.
