Kenya Plays Host to Historical Concert Event

Minneapolis, MN (February 3, 2005) –
The Kenya Tourist Board is proud to announce that Kenya has been selected as the official “Heart of Africa” in 2005. Kenya will host a global benefit concert in celebration of Africa, its people and its potential. The concert event is set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya in December 2005 with satellite broadcasts throughout Kenya and the world.

“This event will be a clarion call by world-renowned musical artists and VIPs from the areas of arts, entertainment, sports and politics to celebrate the very best of Kenya and Africa.” Said Dr. Ongong’a Achieng, Managing Director of the Kenya Tourist Board. “While primarily a proud celebration of African culture, natural beauty and human potential – it will also provide a platform to creatively address the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic, and specifically target children who are affected by it.”

This unique global benefit concert will feature world-renowned musical legends, local Kenyan stars and artists from other African nations. The Heart of Africa event will feature Kenyan and African culture not only via music but through art, fashion and dance.

The Kenya Tourist Board is thrilled to partner with event producers EPOP (Education Powers Our Planet). EPOP works to create original cause-related projects that bring together some of the biggest names in entertainment and politics together, and provides them with a platform to promote some of the most significant causes of our time. By creating cutting edge projects, EPOP offers globally recognized celebrities an opportunity to help causes to which they are already committed to, which ensures the world will stand up and take notice.

Throughout 2005, the Kenya Tourist Board and EPOP will be organizing this event and proudly promoting Kenya’s “Heat of Africa” designation through global tourism promotion.
