Seattle, WA and Nairobi, KENYA - Gamewatchers Safaris was named Tour Operator of the Year at the first annual Kenya Tourism Awards in Nairobi on June 23, 2011. The Kenya Tourism Federation and the Kenya Tourist Board co-hosted the formal Gala Dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant where awards were given in a variety of categories: Best Accommodation Facility, Best Entertainment Facility, Tour Operator of the Year, Air Operator of the Year, Domestic Tourism Award, Best Tourism Attraction and Best Travel Management Company.

The Kenya Tourism Awards have been created to award achievements in the sector and celebrate the strides made in difficult circumstances.

The guests of honor were the UN World Tourism Organization Secretary General, Dr. Taleb Rifai, and Kenya’s Minister for Tourism, Najib Balala.  Gamewatchers Safaris managing director, Jake Grieves-Cook, received the award from Dr. Rifai.
